Position Summary

 

Under the direction of the Assisted Living Manager (ALM) this position ensures residents are provided with a warm, welcoming, and friendly environment, and is responsible for a wide range of tasks including but not limited to the cleanliness of resident suites and common areas of the facility.

 

Shifts are 8:00am-4:00pm.

 

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Light weekly cleaning of resident suites following the checklist provided
  • Complete other cleaning duties including but not limited to washing walls, windows, floors, vacuum furniture, thorough dusting, cleaning out refrigerator and throwing out expired food if any, wipe down inside and out of cupboard doors and cleaning oven/stove top
  • Comply to all Canadian WHMIS standards 2015 to present
  • Maintaining an awareness of resident’s allergies or other sensitivities in respect to cleaning products used within their suites
  • Report and document any health and safety concerns related to the resident or the resident’s suite
  • Maintain resident and staff confidentiality
  • Perform other related duties as required

 

Required Knowledge and Skills 

 

  • Strong time management, multi-tasking, and organizational skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to display tact, respect, and diplomacy
  • Ability to take direction and follow procedures
  • Knowledge to respond effectively and calmly in crisis situations
  • Capable of being socially sensitive to Indigenous issues and concerns
  • Good conflict resolution skills and the ability to demonstrate patience and tolerance
  • Ability to work independently, yet contribute and co-operate in a team environment

 

Qualifications

 

  • Grade 12 or equivalent
  • 1-2 years of experience working in housekeeping preferably in a congregate/assisted living setting
  • Experience in and with Indigenous communities would be an asset
  • Certifications in First Aid, Food Safe and WHMIS (M’akola will provide paid time off and pay for the course)
  • Clear Criminal Record Check
  • Fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or be willing to get vaccinated before their start date, as per M’akola Housing Society’s COVID-19 Vaccine Policy.
